History
Pakistan is one of South Asia’s significant source markets for international education, student mobility and education-related professional services. Every year, thousands of Pakistani students seek educational and career opportunities in the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, New Zealand, Cyprus, Türkiye and other international destinations.
Today, more than 5,000 foreign education and international student consultancy businesses and service providers, supported by an estimated 50,000+ education counsellors and professionals, operate across Pakistan. These professionals connect students with international universities, colleges, pathway providers, English language testing organisations and other education service providers.
As the sector has grown, so have challenges including misleading information, fraudulent documentation, unauthorised practices, visa misinformation and student exploitation. Recognising the need for a professional, transparent and accountable industry platform, the founders established All Pakistan Association of Foreign Education & Immigration Consultants (AFEIC).
Since 2014, AFEIC has worked to promote the professionalisation, organisation and development of foreign education and international student consultancy services in Pakistan. Its mission includes strengthening professional standards, responsible counselling, industry representation and connections between Pakistani consultants and international education stakeholders.
Over the years, AFEIC has developed engagement across all provinces and major regions of Pakistan, with activities covering 25+ cities. The Association has conducted and facilitated 200+ meetings, consultations, training sessions, seminars, networking activities and industry engagements involving Pakistani and international universities, colleges, education providers, English language testing organisations, diplomatic missions, government representatives, professional bodies and international education organisations.
AFEIC has also supported 20+ local and international awareness activities, seminars, webinars, conferences and stakeholder engagements addressing human trafficking, irregular migration, migrant exploitation, fraudulent recruitment, visa compliance and risks associated with unlicensed or misleading consultancy practices. These initiatives promote safe international mobility, ethical recruitment, legal migration pathways, genuine educational opportunities and student protection.
AFEIC considers foreign education consultancy an important part of Pakistan’s education services export and international student recruitment industry. Through professional capacity building, business development, international market access, trade networking, policy dialogue and global partnerships, AFEIC seeks to strengthen Pakistan’s position in the international education ecosystem.
AFEIC continues to engage constructively with government ministries, regulatory authorities, diplomatic missions, universities, international education organisations and industry stakeholders to promote higher professional standards, stronger student protection, responsible recruitment, international partnerships and increased export opportunities for Pakistan’s education-related professional services.
